What should I wear?
Wear casual beach attire, such as a bathing suit, shorts, and sandals. You may want to bring a sweatshirt or windbreaker, depending on the weather. It is also recommended to bring a towel and water for the trip!
Are photos or videos available for purchase?
Yes! Photos are available for purchase through the parasailing team. All photo packages must be purchased with cash.
Is gratuity included in the ticket price?
Gratuity is not included in our ticket price. Tips are never expected but are encouraged and always greatly appreciated! Our team works hard to provide safe and memorable experiences for all.
Are reservations recommended?
Yes, we highly recommend making reservations as parasailing is a popular activity and space is limited. Although we may be able to fit you in on the day of, we cannot guarantee availability without a reservation.
How long does a parasailing adventure last?
The entire parasailing experience lasts approximately one hour, with each flight lasting 10-12 minutes in the air.
How many passengers can go on the boat?
Duck location: Up to 6 passengers per trip
Manteo location: Up to 12 passengers after May 1
Do I need to be experienced or athletic to parasail?
No experience or athletic ability is required! If you can sit, you can fly. We take care of everything for you – you just enjoy the fun!
What are the age limits?
Minimum age to fly: 5 years old
Children under 10: Must fly with an adult
What are the weight restrictions?
Minimum weight: 150-175 lbs combined weight (depending on wind conditions)
Maximum weight: 300-400 lbs combined weight (depending on wind conditions)
What are your hours and days of operation?
We operate seasonally from April to September (weather permitting).
Manteo location: April – September (Closed October – March)
Duck location: May 15 – September 15 (Closed September 15 – May 14)
How much does parasailing cost?

What is the difference between a single, double, and triple flight?
Single Flight: One person flying solo
Double Flight: Two people flying side by side
Triple Flight: Three people flying together (subject to crew approval)
What is the difference between a deluxe, extreme and ultimate?
Deluxe: On our Deluxe we will release 400′ of rope. Depending on conditions you will fly approximately 200′ above the water.
Extreme: On our Extreme we will release 600′ of rope. Depending on conditions you will cruise approximately 300′ above the water.
ULTIMATE: The Ultimate flight is for our thrill seekers, adventure lovers and bucket listers! On our Ultimate Flight we will release a whopping 800′ of rope. This flight offers the best views of the Outer Banks as you soar approximately 400′ from the water below!
Can people come along for the ride and just watch?
Yes!
Duck location: Observers can join if space is available ($35 per person). We will not reserve spaces for observers at this location. Flyers have priority for boat space, so it is recommended to call the day of your scheduled flight to check observer availability.
Manteo location: Observer spots are guaranteed on the first boat of the day. After that, observer slots are on a first-come, first-served basis, and reservations can only be made by phone or in person. The fee is $35 for observers.
Will I get wet?
It depends on the weather and weight conditions. If conditions allow, you may have the option for a “dip” in the water (e.g., “Toes to Nose”). Otherwise, you may stay dry, but occasionally landing in the water is necessary, and you may get wet.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Swimming is not required as all participants must wear a life vest while flying. Children under 12 will also be required to wear a flotation device while on the boat.
Can pregnant women fly?
Pregnant women beyond 3 months should not parasail for safety reasons.
How long has OBX Parasail been in business?
OBX Parasail, LLC has been partnering with Kitty Hawk Kites for over 10 years, operating out of two locations: Duck and Manteo. We are proud to be locally owned and operated by residents of Manteo.
What is your safety record?
We have maintained an impeccable safety record with no parasailing accidents. Our top priority is safety. We are the only company on the Outer Banks that provides a safety video to all participants. We strictly follow the WSIA (Water Sports Industry Association) standards and are committed to using the best equipment and experienced, highly-trained crew.
Are your captains and crew trained and certified?
Yes! All of our parasail captains are U.S. Coast Guard licensed. Additionally, 100% of our crew is certified in CPR and First Aid. We have over 30 years of combined experience in the parasailing industry.
What is your cancellation policy?

Can I bring my own camera equipment?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your camera, but please note that we are not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property. Bring your camera at your own risk!
What kind of parasailing do you offer?
We offer Winch Direct Parasailing, which is the safest and most widely accepted form of parasailing. You will take off and land directly from the boat’s flight deck, not from a beach or floating barge. The maximum altitude allowed by the FAA is 400 feet, and we strictly adhere to this limit.
Where are you located?
Duck location: 1226 Duck Rd, Duck, NC 27949. Convenient for those staying in Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, or Kitty Hawk.
Manteo location: 307 Queen Elizabeth Avenue, Manteo, NC 27954. Just 15 minutes from Nags Head, offering stunning views of Roanoke Island, Jockey’s Ridge, and more.
